Intellectual Property Rights Initiatives

As part of its Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Initiatives, VTPC conducts a wide range of sensitization and in-depth training programs for stakeholders across academic institutions, startups/entrepreneurs and more. The topics encompass the various IP tool kits across the facets of IP creation, protection, commercialization, enforcement, etc., besides sessions on entrepreneurship and innovation tailored to the needs of the audience.

 

During the period April 2020- March 2021, VTPC conducted a total of 18 Virtual IPR awareness programs which includes 3 exclusive Geographical Indications programs. This besides a 10 days and 14 days series of Faculty Development Programs were also organized in association with Oxford College of Engineering under the aegis of the AICTE with VTPC as Knowledge Partner. Special thrust was given across all the programs towards GI awareness and as a significant and powerful IP tool. A total number of 4194 participants benefitted across these programs.

 

Incentives & Concessions:

  • One time grant of 50% not exceeding INR 5 Lakh on expenditure incurred in the establishment of IP cells and technology transfer centers (TTCs) at recognized educational institutions

  • One time grant of 50% not exceeding INR 10 Lakh on expenditure incurred in the establishment of IP promotion & facilitation hubs at trade bodies/industry associations

  • Expenditure incurred for filing of a non-provisional patent application is subsidized to an extent of 75% and not exceeding INR 1 Lakh for each application

 

Besides, VTPC in association with Karnataka State Council for Science & Technology (KSCST) facilitated the launch of IP Cell at Oxford College of Engineering, Bengaluru on 18 Jan'21. Commemorating the occasion, a Webinar was also held on the theme, “Meeting the future scientific needs through Patent & Technology Transfer.”
